Raw balls (perfect healthy snack)

After a Halloween weekend full of sugar, I think it’s nice to have something more healthy around when the weakness for sweet comes. These healthy raw balls are filled with nutritions and NO added sugar and NO butter. Just plant based fat and sugar. And they taste so good! They remind me a lot of Swedish chocolate balls, but much healthier.

They can be seasoned as preferred. I love to add some cinnamon and cardamom which gives a Christmas taste. Or other wise with lime zest which gives even more freshness to these healthy snack balls.

Ingredients (15 balls)

  • 1/2 cup almonds (if roasted and salted, no more added salt) – or other whole nuts you have at home
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 10 pitted dates
  • 2 tbsp cocoa
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2-3 tbsp water
  • seasoning; pinch salt, 1/4 tsp cinnamon or 1/4 tsp lime zest or 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes / 4 tbsp sesame seeds

Use a food processor. Mix the whole almonds and pumpkin seeds to fine flour. Add the rolled oats, pitted dates, cocoa powder, coconut oil and part of the water into the food processor bowl. Decide which seasoning that will be used and add it into the bowl as well. Now mix everything together until the ingredients are forming into a smooth dough.

Add the dough onto a baking board. Divide the dough into approximately 15 pieces and roll into balls with wet hands. Roll each ball in coconut flakes and/or sesame seeds.

Keep in the refrigerator for up to a week.
