I know the American chocolate cookie is THE cookie. But if you would like to taste something else and something coming from Scandinavia, you should really try this Swedish chocolate cookie. It has a rich taste of chocolate and is chewy. The biggest difference from the the American cookies is maybe the shape. We cut them in diagonal cuts. They are not so big so you can have two! 🙂
Ingredients (40 cookies):
- 0.2 lb butter (room temperature)
- 2/5 cup granulated sugar
- 3 1/2 tbs maple syrup
- 2 tbs cocoa powder
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
Pre heat the oven to 350ºF. Beat butter, sugar and maple syrup with an electric handmixer. Mix the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, vanilla sugar and salt in bowl. Add the dried mixture to the butter mixture and beat together to one smooth dough.
Split the dough in two. Roll each dough piece to a 20 inches roll. Press the rolls carefully with your hand so they get a bit flat. Then press carefully with the lower part of a fork over the whole flat roll (both of them).
Bake the cookies in the middle of the oven for 15-20 minutes until they start to crack. Take them out from the oven and let them cool down a bit. Thereafter, cut them in diagonal cuts. Ready to serve!
Smaklig måltid!
