Pickled red onions – so easy and so delicious! My tip is to prepare the pickled red onions and always have it at home. It takes five minutes to prepare and you can keep it in the fridge for two to three weeks without problem. You’ll probably love having a jar of these in you fridge for tacos, avocado toast, fish dish, grilled chicken, hamburger, and more!
Ingredients (1 jar):
- 1 red onion
- 1 cup water
- 3 tbs granulated sugar
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 2 tbs vinegar (you can use the one you prefer. I use white wine vinegar)
Peel the red onion and slice it as thin as you can. Stuff the red onion into a jar with lid. Heat water, sugar, salt and vinegar in a pan. Let the sugar melt and then take the pan from the heat. If you have time, you can let the pickling mixture cold down. Otherwise, you can directly pour it over the sliced red onions in the jar and let them set for an hour. After an hour, cover with the lid and store in the fridge until it’s time to serve.
