We drink “glögg” for Christmas which is a hot drink with a lot of spices. I gave you my recipe earlier, which you find here. The recipe below is non alcoholic mulled wine, but still with a lot of spices.
Ingredients (4-6 pers):
- 1 bottles non alcoholic red wine
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 12 whole cloves
- 1 inch of fresh ginger
- 1 tsp whole cardamom seeds
- Peel from 1 orange
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 3-6 tbsp granulated sugar
Use a saucepan and add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger, cardamom seeds, orange peel and raisins. Add 1/2 cup of the non alcoholic red wine into the saucepan. Cover it with a lid and let it soak in the spices for 2-3 days. Place it in rooms temperature.
Drain the liquid into an empty saucepan. Add the rest of the non alcoholic red wine and part of the sugar (taste before adding all sugar). Scald the liquid and let the sugar dissolve.
If you want so serve you mulled wine later, just reheat it before serving. You can keep it in a closed bottle for up to 3 months.
Serve your mulled wine with raisins and blanched almonds. You can also serve Saffron buns on the side.
