Thanksgiving Brussels Sprouts with chili, sliced almonds and parsley

Happy Thanksgiving!

This holiday is new to me after moving to USA. I love Thanksgiving and I love how you all spend time being extra thankful for what you have and to your family and friends. You know more about the Thanksgiving food than I do. 😉 What I love, and what we also eat for Christmas in Scandinavia, is Brussels sprouts. I made my Brussels sprouts side dish with chili, lemon, sliced almond, garlic and fresh parsley. Just love it!

Ingredients (4 pers):

  • 2 lb brussel sprouts
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp sliced almonds
  • 1 lemon (zest and juice)
  • 1 bundle fresh parsley

Trim and cut the Brussels sprouts in half. When you trim, make sure all “soft” leaves are gone and the small root. Heat the olive oil and butter over medium high heat in a large skillet. Add the Brussels sprouts into the skillet and sauté for approximately 15 minutes until the sprouts have a nice color and are fork tender.

Add the chili, roughly chopped garlic cloves and sliced almonds and sauté for another minute. Remove the skillet from the heat and add lemon zest and pour over the lemon juice. Sprinkle roughly chopped fresh parsley over the dish.

One of the Thanksgiving side dishes is ready! 😉

Smaklig måltid!
